The Italian Zeolite Association (AIZ), the University of Turin, the University of Eastern Piedmont “A. Avogadro” and the Italian Cristllografy Association cordially invite academic and industrial researchers to attend the II International Workshop Layered Materials, which will be held in Vercelli (Italy), on March 28-30, 2008.
Scope of the Workshop
The conference is the second international workshop on Layered materials organised by the Universities of Piemonte Orientale and Torino and sponsored by the Italian Crystallographic Association (AIC) and Italian Zeolite Association (AIZ).
The first conference held in Alessandria (Italy) in August 2006, was mainly devoted to outline structure and properties of synthetic clays and clay minerals and their applications in Catalysis, Polymer Science and Nanotechnology.
The present Workshop will focus on different types of layered materials (perosvkite-type, silicates, inorganic actinide compounds, organic-inorganic hybrids, etc…) the chemistry and structure of which may lead to highly technological solids designed to improve their optical, magnetic and electronic properties. These materials can be used for a wide range of applications, from sensor devices to optical and magnetic imaging. The workshop will focus on spectroscopic, diffraction and computational methods to describe the structure and on physical tools to monitor properties in order to enlighten the structure-property relationships.
